The Q7 accommodates four cases behind its third row but just 25 with the seats down, making the XT6 the better choice if you need to transport big, bulky cargo. But lowering the back two rows frees up enough room to fit 31 suitcases. Cargo space is limited, too, with room for only three carry-on suitcases behind the third row. While the XT6's first and second rows are comfortable, the trimmings don't measure up when compared with those of the Audi Q7 or the BMW X5. Like many mid-size three-row SUVS, the third row is designated for two passengers, but access and accommodations are tight for fully-grown adults. The Cadillac XT6 offers both six- and seven-seat layouts, facilitated by either captain's chairs or a three-seat bench in the second row. That said, when we ran an all-wheel-drive XT6 on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, we earned a less-than-ideal 22 mpg. (Highway drops to 26 with AWD.) Handling is reasonably athletic for a three-row crossover, but no one will mistake it for the agile CT5-V sedan. A Platinum package is available and gives the XT6 all the goodies, including the sport suspension. Twenty-inch wheels come standard, but you can get 21-inchers on the Sport model. The Luxury and Premium Luxury XT6 trims are offered in front- or all-wheel drive, but the Sport is an AWD-only model with additional spirit baked in via a torque-vectoring rear differential and steering tuned for quicker reflexes. A nine-speed automatic transmission is the sole transmission offering. That means a choice of either a 235-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a 310-hp V-6 engine. The XT6 returns for 2024 with no change to the powertrains.

We'd add the Technology package (8.0-inch digital gauge display, head-up display, 360-degree exterior camera system, and more) as well as the Driver Assist package (adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection) and still save a few bucks. As such, we feel the money saved by choosing the Premium Luxury model is better spent towards that end.
It could be a fully new model, but we think it'll just be a heavily revised version of the current model, so probably still front-drive based with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a nine-speed automatic transmission.Though the Sport trim gets the V-6 and AWD as standard equipment, the XT6 is at its best as a luxury cruiser. Since the XT4 is only about four years old, we're expecting the production version of this SUV to be revealed possibly sometime next year, with the production model probably coming up to a year later as a 2024 or 2025 model. At the back, the C/D-pillar taillights stick around, since that's a running design feature across multiple Cadillac models.
The headlights seem to have the split design that's so en vogue, with the styled running lights up top, and the actual forward-illuminating lights placed lower. The grille also looks bigger, crisper, and blends into the headlight section like a blend of the Escala concept and the Lyriq. The grille has a fine mesh texture, and the badge is quite large. Looking closer, this possible XT4 successor has some other interesting design changes.

The side windows have been reprofiled with a significant kink at the rear, which is similar to the current XT4's cousin, the Buick Envision. The nose and roof line look lower, and the rear hatch area doesn't look as upright. But the shape does look significantly different. That also suggests it may still be on the same platform, possibly the same powertrain. So it doesn't seem like it would be an XT5 replacement, or something like an XT3 that would slot below the XT4. We spent a long time looking at this and the current XT4 in profile, and it seems that the size is close, from the wheelbase to the overhangs. While not especially old, coming into its fourth model year, we have reason to believe this may be a new, or at least heavily revised XT4. One of our spy photographers caught this compact prototype out testing. Outside of the electric Lyriq, the Cadillac crossover SUV world has been pretty quiet, but that may not be the case for long.
